Accredited investor
Definition 1.
efers to a wealthy investor (net worth $7 million or annual income >200,000) who does not count to the maximum of 35 people allowed to invest in a private limited partnership.

Definition 2.
The SEC designation for an individual or entity meeting any of the criteria listed below. Certain restricted offerings, limited partnerships, and angel investor networks are open only to accredited investors. opposite of nonaccredited investor.

Definition 3.
A term used by the SEC under Regulation D to define investors that are financially sophisticated and have no need for the protection provided by certain government filings. Also known as a qualified purchaser.
