Block trade
Definition 1.
A large trading order, defined on the New York Stock Exchange as an order that consists of 10,000 shares of a given stock or at a total market value of $200,000 or more.

Definition 2.
The sale or purchase of a large quantity of securities.

Definition 3.
A large amount of securities being traded, typically at least 10,000 shares of stock or $200,000 in bonds. Normally, only institutional investors undertake such large trades. Block trades can affect the market price of the security, depending on the liquidity of the market.

A purchase or sale of a large quantity of stock, generally 10,000 shares or more.
