Class
Definition 1.
In the case of derivative products, options of the same type-put or call-with the same underlying security. See: Series. In general, refers to a category of assets such as: domestic equity, fixed income, etc.

Definition 2.
In the most general form, a class is a group of securities with similar features.

Definition 3.
Type, as of a security. For options, puts and calls of the same security are considered different classes.
