downtick
Definition 1.
A stock market transaction (or sometimes, a quote) at a price lower than the preceding one for the same security. also called minus tick. opposite of uptick.

Definition 2.
Move down in a particular stock. On U.S. stock exchanges, you cannot sell a stock short on a downtick.

Definition 3.
A transaction on an exchange occurring at a price below the previous transaction.

Definition 4.
A transaction executed at a price lower than the preceding transaction in that security, or a new quote registered at a lower price than the preceding quote in that security. (See uptick)
