Euro
Definition 1.
The name for the composite monetary unit that has replaced national currencies in several European countries. The Euro was introduced on January 1st, 1999 and went into general circulation on January 1st, 2002.

Definition 2.
riginally for a deposit outside one's home country but in the home country currency. This terminology is confusing now since the new European currency unit, also called the Euro, was introduced on January 1, 1999.
