Member Firm
Definition 1.
A broker-dealer in which at least one of the principal officers is a member of either the NYSE, another exchange, a self regulatory organization, or a clearing house corporation.

Definition 2.
Used for listed equity securities. Brokerage firm that has at least one membership on a major stock exchange even though, by exchange rules, the membership is in the name of an employee and not the firm itself.

A broker/dealer in which at least one of the general partners (if a partnership) or officers (if a corporation) is a member of an exchange, a self-regulatory organization, or a clearing corporation. also called member corporation if the firm is a corporation. opposite of nonmember firm.

A broker/dealer that is a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc.
