Sterilized intervention
Definition 1.
Foreign exchange market activity by which monetary authorities insulate their domestic money supplies from the foreign exchange transactions with offsetting sales or purchases of domestic assets.

A method of sterilization carried out by a country's Federal Reserve or Central bank. It involves the simultaneous purchase of treasury or agency securities in the open market for the exact same amounts.
