unemployment rate  

Definition 1.

Percentage of the civilian labor force which is unemployed. A lagging indicator.
 

Definition 2.

The percentage of the people classified as unemployed as compared to the total labor force.
 

Definition 3.

The percentage of labor force that is actively seeking employment and willing to work that is not employed. It is expressed as a percentage of the total labor force.
