Definition 1.
A distinctive name, symbol, motto, or design that legally identifies a company or its products and services, and sometimes prevents others from using identical or similar marks.

A distinctive name or symbol used to identify a product or company and build recognition. Trademarks may be registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

A distinguishing symbol, word, phrase, logo, or combination of these that legally separates one company's product form any others. Any infringement on a trademark is illegal and therefore grounds for the company owning the trademark to sue the infringing party.
